Turn and Talk

Turn and Talk engages all students in active discussion and ensures everyone shares their ideas, helping them process new information and develop communication skills through peer interaction.

When to use:
Entry task
New concept
Complex topics
To close

Steps:
1. Pose a question or prompt for students to discuss and tell them how much time they will have. One to two minutes is usually enough.
2. Have students think individually about the question for a brief period.
3. Pair students using Eyeball Partners or Shoulder Partners and ask them to discuss the question or prompt together.
