Jigsaw
Jigsaw provides structured support while building skills and confidence. It helps students progressively and independently develop their problem-solving abilities.
When to use:
Complex topics
Research projects
Review sessions
Steps:
1. Divide students into small groups (4-6).
2. Break the lesson into parts, assigning each student one section to become the “expert” on.
3. Students with the same topic form expert groups to discuss and master their section.
4. Expert groups study their topic thoroughly.
5. Experts return to their home groups and teach them their section.
